Coleman Montana 8 Person Tent
Coleman’s 8 person Montana tent has a modified dome construction to provide you with plenty of room to stand up and move around. It’s 6′ 2″ in height at the center of the dome, and the internal space can be divided into three separate rooms, each of which is large enough to accommodate a queen sized air bed.
It has floor dimensions of 16′ X 7′ and will accommodate 6 adults with ease – or 8 if the internal walls are rolled up and nobody minds a fairly snug environment.
It’s not a backpacking tent by any means, it’s aimed at those who go car camping and who want a little comfort at the campsite. Even so, when it’s packed up in the supplied bag, it measures just 27 x 8 x 8 inches – so it’s fairly easy to transport.
It comes in blue, green and black, with each color having its own contrasting rainfly.
The rainfly can be taken off when the weather is fine, so that you can see the stars through the mesh roof.
When it is raining, the rainfly will keep you dry. The windows have also been cleverly angled so that they will let in light, but not water, when it rains – even when open.
The rainfly is 75 denier polyester taffeta, the inner tent is 68 denier polyester mesh and the Coleman patented welded floor is a hard wearing 1000 denier polyethylene.
11 mm diameter fiberglass poles, guy ropes and pegs keep the tent stable in windy conditions. It’s worth pointing out that all Coleman tents are tested using fans to simulate winds in excess of 35 m.p.h. – so you can use this tent with confidence.
The D shaped door is actually hinged, which is a nice touch, especially if you have kids running in and out all the time. It opens directly into the central domed area of the tent.
Inside the main area, there’s a handy pocket for stowing your gear. There’s also an opening provided should you wish to run an electrical supply cable into the tent.
Despite its generous size, the Coleman pole supports make this tent very easy to put up. You should be able to do it in 15 minutes or less with two people.
Here’s a short video that shows how easy it is to put this tent up:
